The Cinnamon Trust Needs Volunteers in Walpole Highway
The Cinnamon Trust is the national charity whose wonderful volunteers help people over retirement age and those in the latter stages of a terminal illness by offering all kinds of pet care. We urgently need volunteers who are able to help a resident of Walpole Highway with some walks for their adorable 10 year old Jack Russell Susie. If you would like to volunteer to help we would be delighted to hear from you.
What happens if illness, injury or just the fact that we all get older eventually affects our ability to look after our four legged companions? A large number of elderly or ill pet owners become very worried about their ability to care for their pets, feeling that their only option is to rehome them, this is where our national network of dedicated volunteers step in to offer support enabling them to stay together.
We’ll walk the dog for a housebound owner, we’ll foster pets when owners need hospital care, we’ll fetch the cat food, even clean out the bird cage or litter trays.
If you would like a chat about volunteering or to request a registration form please call during office hours 01736 758707 or email us at appeals@cinnamon.org.uk or check out our website for more details www.cinnamon.org.uk

Road closure due to burst water main at West Drove South

Walpole Highway WTRO688 Emergency (1)

A47 Closure – Saddlebow Bridge

Following major work to remove steel beams as part of major bridge repairs at Saddlebow interchange near King’s Lynn last weekend, our inspections have identified damage to the concrete bridge deck over the A47 westbound carriageway that could put safety of road users at risk. To ensure the safety of traffic using the A47, we are immediately installing a full closure of the westbound A47 with traffic being diverted up and over the junction. This will allow us to use a mobile elevated working platform (MEWP) to gain access to the bridge deck and make a detailed inspection of the damaged concrete. We will then be able to determine the correct solution to make the bridge deck safe and reopen to traffic as soon as possible.

From 20:00 until 06:00 tonight, we will also be closing the A47 eastbound carriageway with traffic also being diverted up and over the junction via the exit and entry slip roads.

This is ahead of our planned second full closure of the A47 eastbound and westbound carriageways this weekend for further maintenance work on the damaged bridges.

Both the bridges carrying the A148 over the A47 at the Saddlebow interchange were closed on 23 October and will remain closed until the project is completed in March 2018. During the closures, drivers will be diverted via the nearby A47 Pullover roundabout (when heading westbound) and A47 Hardwick interchange (eastbound).

The bridges at the Saddlebow interchange to the south of the town were damaged when they were struck by an over-height vehicle. Now the bridges are being repaired as part of a wider £18 million package of work to maintain the A47 in Norfolk, which consists of around 70 different schemes on the A47.

Closures and diversion routes

Both the bridges carrying the A148 over the A47 at the Saddlebow interchange were closed on 23 October and will remain closed until the project is completed in March 2018. During the closures, drivers will be diverted via the nearby A47 Pullover roundabout (when heading westbound) and A47 Hardwick interchange (eastbound).

For the immediate closure of A47 westbound carriageway, traffic will be directed to use A47 westbound off-slip at Saddlebow Interchange to A47 westbound on-slip back to A47 for westbound carriageway.

From 20:00 tonight (Thursday 23 November) until 06:00 tomorrow morning (Friday 24 November), both A47 westbound and eastbound carriageway will be fully closed with westbound traffic being diverted as above, and eastbound traffic being directed to use A47 eastbound off-slip at Saddlebow Interchange to A47 eastbound on-slip back to A47 for eastbound carriageway.

A planned full closure will take place this weekend, with the A47 closed from 20:00 on Friday 24 November to 06:00 on Monday 27 November.
